A poet, playwright, and cultural activist, Cherríe Moraga is Artist in Residence in the Department of Theater and Performance Studies and in the Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity Program at Stanford University. She is the author of many books, including A Xicana Codex of Changing Consciousness: Writings, 2000–2010 and Loving in the War Years: Lo que nunca pasó por sus labios.Gloria Anzaldúa (1942–2004) was a poet, metaphysical philosopher, and scholar of Chicana cultural theory, feminist theory, and queer theory. Her books include Borderlands/La Frontera: The New Mestiza and The Gloria Anzaldúa Reader, a posthumously published collection of her work.

Most people buy this book for class, but I read it “for fun” and it is unbelievably amazing and insightful. As a cis-man, I couldn’t take having so much truth hit me at once, from looking at my own experiences and experiences from the women around me. This collection of essays and poems needs to reach as many eyes and ears as possible. I do refer to a lot of these works in my literary analyzes for class and lecture. As a feminist, read this to understand the importance of intersectionality. There’s honestly so much to say, but go and experience it!

This book is absolutely amazing.10/10 would recommend to all feminists especially white feminists.This book is so important and I'm so glad my best friend bought me a copy. I'm really grateful to him for that.In my time of reading feminist works and just being really pro-feminism, this book was often mentioned and quoted and I really wanted to read it and I am so glad I finally got my hands on. Totally worth it.

Read this in class and it facilitated a lot of good conversation. If you call yourself and feminist, and you want to practice intersectionality, then you have got to read this. When you're done, pick up This Bridge We Call Home.

The image I see in my mind’s eye when I think about this book is the image of my own face, my eyes closed, tears welling up, smiling. Head tilted upwards, towards the warm glow of the sun. It is late afternoon.

This Bridge Called My Back was an assigned text in one of my Women Studies classes. I had originally rented this text but ultimately decided to purchase it because it resonated with me. I have since purchased a few more copies to give to friends.

a must read for women passionate and deeply committed to "The Work."
