"The Local's Guide" is absolutely the truth. You get recommendations on where to park, how to use the shuttles to best advantage, and directions for scenic loop drives. This has similar content to Mr. Grubbs' other Grand Canyon guide, but without the pictures and the maps. This keeps the content quicker to load. There are links to the maps if you want them.I liked the photos in the bigger guide, giving me an idea what to expect in a given area, and whether I want to go there to take pictures, and if so, when. This guide gives you that information in text, but a picture is truly worth a thousand words. I believe both guides work well together.This is so useful during the trip because it's quick to look things up. I really appreciated that this one was also available on Kindle Unlimited.
This is a well written mini-guide with a wide range of information. I'd highly recommend it to anyone, especially if you are making your first excursion to the Grand Canyon. I bought it for ideas on a trip to the North Rim. Although many of the tips weren't news to me (I've a lot of experience hiking and kayaking in western national parks and wilderness areas) the information specific to the park was useful, and well worth the digital price.
I am always looking for lesser known or rarely visited areas in the parks. This book gives tips on when it is less crowded and where to go to experience solitude. We took a trip to the North Rim in July, which is the busy season, but we were able to walk to Cape Royal in the morning before others came. The safety tips are good. In 2018 a hiker fell from Matter Point because they went over railing. Obey the rules. Our favorite time of the year for a trip to the South Rim is November. We experienced a clear night view from near Bright Angel with no one else around.

The book was well organized by sites to the east and west of the main park entrance in geographical order. The descriptions of each site was also helpful.
